Hey, my name is Pavel Yeliseev. I’ve been a software developer for most of my life, starting with PHP and growing into an architect and then a CTO. I’m currently working in the fintech industry, mostly related to banking, payments, e-commerce, and crypto.
For most of that time, my focus was on technology and engineering, but I quickly realised that good technology is not enough. Technology is only useful if it’s aligned with your strategy, supported by your culture, and implemented through disciplined execution. I’m now focused on implementing technical solutions that support the business and are actually adopted by people.
This blog is where I write to think. I document lessons from building products, leading teams, and working with exceptional people, and I hope these lessons will be useful to others.
Now
I’m currently the CTO of Libernetix, building new financial services. I joined the company when it was just a handful of people and helped grow it into a mature business with an exceptional team. I find the fintech industry exceptionally interesting and planning to focus on it for the nearest future.
Work That I Enjoy
My work covers many areas, but some parts of my work I enjoy more than others
- Architecting and implementing new products, both internal and client-facing.
- Researching and testing new technologies, and building MVPs.
- Creating an IT vision and strategy within the company to support the overall business strategy.
- Building new teams and helping existing teams break barriers and reach new heights.
- Finding bottlenecks in the development process and making it more fluid and enjoyable.
- Coaching and mentoring other engineers to help them reach their potential and boost their careers.
Prior Experience
- I’ve worked as a freelance developer/consultant and helped startups launch new products in e-commerce, aerospace, crypto and payment industries.
- I’ve worked as a software developer and an architect for large enterprise clients in the reinsurance sector. During this time I’ve lead small and medium-size teams in implementing new internal and client-facing products, researched new technical solutions and helped the clients roll them out across the company.
- I’ve been the lead frontend developer at Zabbix which game me my first experience as a team lead and some great insights into the world of open source software.
